The Raiders relocation was announced back in March 2017, leaving the city of Oakland without a NFL team. African American group of investors are looking to bring a NFL team back in Oakland. The African American Sports and Entertainment Committee sent a letter to the NFL that it will file an application to acquire an expansion team.

The Black ownership group would be the first African Americans to own an NFL team. In 2017 P. Diddy wanted to buy the Carolina Panthers but lost out to Billionaire David Tepper. CNN has reported in 2017 Oakland residents in the city relied on the stadium to provide income, many jobs were lost, community activists say a new NFL team will bring more jobs and opportunities back to the city.
